On an intrepid journey to the old world (aka a summer trip to Europe) then college students, Marlo Miller and Walter Thornburgh, met a wide range of companions and saw them fall prey, one by one, to the dreaded hangover. They could not be blamed, few can resist the allure of alcohol, but all this grogginess tended to interfere with exploring the more cultural aspects of the countries they visited on the following morning. That is when Walter (being a chemist and all) decided it was time to end the hangover and resolved to not sleep until he did. After much research and testing he was finally able to develop the sweet elixir we call Prime, so the world can rock today and roll tomorrow. Marlo wants to point out she is good at other things, just not science. Really, she helps out she swears.
A reagent test to see the levels of acetaldehyde in the test subject before and after heavy drinking. For this test we had people of similar height and weight drink the same amount with Prime introduced into their system. Through this we were able to see a decrease in toxicity but did not have a quantifiable amount.
The second method of chemical testing yielded more precise chemical data, and tested using Head space Gas Chromatography equipment. We took samples of the subjects' urine and put it through the machine to find the actual level of decrease in toxicity. Through this we found an approximately a 73% reduction in estimated blood concentration levels of hangover-causing acetaldehyde.
The third test was an introspective individual survey. We gave people Prime and got them very drunk, half of the people had a placebo, and the rest were given the actual supplement. The following morning they were asked to complete surveys rating their levels of discomfort from 1-10 (1 being I've never felt better and ten being I feel like I was just hit by a massive truck). The average discomfort reported from the experimental group was 2.6 and the average discomfort from the placebo.
When you drink alcohol, your body loses large amounts of electrolytes over time, especially potassium, which is difficult to replenish. Prime includes a potassium-replenishing electrolyte supplement to help keep you healthy and refresheRead More
The toxic byproducts of alcohol metabolism deplete your body's sources of vitamin B. Vitamin B is a water-soluble vitamin that needs to be constantly replenished. Prime contains a B-vitamin complex that will help protect you from vitamin depletion.Read More
Glutathione is a compound that it naturally produced by your liver. It helps your body break down acetaldehyde, a toxic byproduct of alcohol metabolism, but not the alcohol itself. Glutathione boosts your body's hangover protection without killing your buzz. Your liver's ability to naturally produce glutathione, the compound that protects your body from the toxic chemicals that cause hangovers, is limited and required a specific set of essential amino acids. Prime includes an amino acid complex specifically designed to boost your liver's ability to produce hangover-blocking glutathione.Read More
N-Acetyl-Cysteine binds to acetaldehyde, the toxic substance produced when you breakdown alcohol. This amino acid also replenishes glutathione, an antioxidant responsible for protecting you against oxidative stress.Read More
